Bustler Well
Background
The Bustler Well prospect (ELA 52/2348) is located 65 kilometres south of Mt Augustus on the Landor-Mt Augustus Road, and only 15 km north east of the Mt James project.
Exploration Update
Minor historical gold workings were sampled with quartz-veined schistose arkose at the Bustler Well prospect returning assay results up to 81.1g/t Au and channel samples from pits returning numerous significant results ranging up to 16g/t Au.
12 RC holes were drilled in 1988, in four areas based on surface rock sampling, which returned gold assays between 0.31 g/t Au and 1.55 g/t Au. Rock chip samples at the Old Pit workings returned a channel sample result of 10m @ 2.6 g/t Au within a narrow quartz vein/shear. Holes BR 1, 2 and 3 at the Old Pit prospect returned results with 1m @ 37.4 g/t Au from 20 metres (BR1), 2m @ 9.08 g/t Au from 10 metres (BR2) and 3m @ 7.62 g/t Au from 17 metres (BR3). Other drilling results from the program were of lower grade and in general less than 1 g/t Au.
Follow up drilling comprising a further 14 RC holes in 1989 focussed on the Old Pit area only. Holes to the north of the workings returned no significant results but holes south of the pits returned further encouragement with 3m @ 7.17 g/t Au from 47 metres, and 2m @ 4.3 g/t Au from 72 metres from BR15. Other holes returned lower grades.
